神武寺 Jinmuji

逗子といえば海のイメージが強いですが、個人的には断然山派。
神武寺は、724年に創建されたとされる古刹。
参道に足を踏み入れた途端、ひんやりと澄んだ空気の中に、静けさと厳かさ、それでいてあらゆるものを受け入れてくれるような心地よさを感じる、不思議な場所です。
逗子市側からは、表参道（東逗子駅側）、裏参道（神武寺駅側）、法勝寺口の３通りの行き方があります。
石段や岩肌は、苔やシダ植物に覆われていて、観察しながら登るのも楽しいですね。
本堂・薬師堂の内部は一般非公開ですが、33年に一度の御開帳の機会に拝観することができるそうです。次回は2050年…。
（例年だと師走の煤払いの日にも拝観できるそうですが、今年はコロナの影響で難しいようです。）
2050年の私たちは、2020年をどのように振り返るのだろう…などと考えてしまいます。

Although Zushi is regarded as a beach town, I personally recommend the mountains in Zushi.
Jinmuji was built in 724, which is one of the oldest temples in Kanagawa prefecture.
Once you step into the approach, you may realize that this area has a solemn atmosphere in its crisp and cool air. At the same time, you may feel being welcomed by this sacred mountain.
There are three different approaches called “Omote sando”, “Ura sando” and “Hoshoji Guchi.” The stone steps and walls are covered by various kind of moss plants and fern, which please my eyes every time.
Gokaicho (an event people are allow to see the treasure of the temple) is held only once in 33 years, and next Gokaicho will be held in 2050.
Except that event, annual cleaning day every December was supposed to be another chance to see it, but it was cancelled this year due to COVID-19.
I wonder how people living in 2050 will recall this catastrophe in 2020.
逗子海岸 Zushi beach

今シーズンの海の家の営業が終わりました。
賑やかな海の家も楽しいけれど、個人的には静かで穏やかな逗子海岸が好きです。
逗子に住みはじめてから、海がとても身近になりました。
何も予定がない日は、おにぎりを持ってピクニック（ぼんやりしているとトンビに狙われるので注意！←経験談）。
早めに夕食を済ませて、海に沈む夕陽を見にいくのも好きです。
砂だらけになっても、すぐにシャワーを浴びられる距離に住んでいるなんて、贅沢だなーと思います。
子どもたちは、波と戯れたり、砂遊びをしたり。
私は、ツメタガイに食べられて穴があいた貝殻を見つけると、ついつい集めてしまいます。
親子で時間を忘れて遊ぶことができる大切な場所です。

Beach houses have just wrapped up their business for 2019. Lively summer beach is fun, but I personally prefer quiet and calm Zushi beach after Summer.
Since we moved here, the beach has been a part of our daily life. On a free day, Zushi beach is one of our favorite options for having a picnic (but be careful for aggressive eagles trying to hunt your foods! I had my rice ball snatched away several times...)
We also like going to the beach to see the sunset after finishing early dinner. I feel privileged to live close to the beach and have a quick access to a shower when kids get all sandy.
While the kids are enjoying jumping up and down on the edge of the water and playing with sand, I can’t help collecting shells with a small hole eaten by bladder moon shell.
Time goes fast always when we are having fun at Zushi beach.
森戸川源流 Upstream of Morito river

まだまだ残暑きびしい今日この頃。
海や山もいいけれど、涼を求めて川遊びに行けるのも、逗子のいいところ。
森戸川源流は、秘境感たっぷりの自然豊かなエリア。
逗子駅方面からは、京急バスで長柄交差点下車、川久保交差点を右手に進んだところにあります。
（朝と夕方には川久保にとまるバスもでています。）
新桜山トンネルを通りますが、歩道がしっかり整備されているので自転車でも安心です。
ひんやりした空気の中、川遊びを楽しんだり、貴重な山野草、昆虫、野鳥などを観察したり。
希少な生き物にとっての数少ない生息地。
この環境でしか生きられない生き物もいるので、じっくり観察したあとは、もと居た場所に戻してあげましょう。
ゴミの持ち帰り、野鳥を驚かせる大きな声にも気を付けたいですね。

It’s already September, but still hot like Summer!
Shonan area is known for beaches and mountains, but there are also beautiful rivers which are perfect to cool down on such a hot day.
Upstream of Morito river and the surrounding forest are called a hidden gem of Hayama.
To reach there, you can take a bus from Zushi st. (JR line) or Shinzushi st. (Keikyu line.) After getting off at Nagae Kosaten, walk towards the mountainside until Kawakubo crossroads. Turn right and walk for another 10 minutes, you will find the gate to the walkway. Busses directly go to Kawakubo Kosaten are also available only in the morning and evening.
As there is a wide and safe pavement in Shin Sakurayama Tunnel, cycling is an option, too.
You can enjoy touching the cool water and observing beautiful plants, insects and birds, while feeling the fresh air coming from the untouched forest.
This area is one of the few homes for rare species of wild lives. Do not forget to release them after enjoying observation. Plus, please remember that littering and making so much noise will ruin this beauty of nature in this place.
逗子市民農園 Allotment garden in Zushi

市民が利用できる市民農園が６か所あります。

１区画は約15㎡。２年に一度、市の広報誌などを通じて募集があります。
例年どおりであれば、次回募集は2020年2月上旬だと思います。
一年ごとに利用料を払う仕組みなので、追加の募集があることも。
利用料は、2019年時点で年間9,000円（月額750円）。
※水道・物置はないので注意。
天気の良い日は、お弁当をもって農作業。
土に触れ、たくさん体を動かした日は、心も体もすっきり。
自分が育てた採れたての野菜を食べられる幸せ、
是非味わってみてください！

In Zushi city, there are 6 allotment gardens where the citizens can can enjoy gardening and farming.
one lot is about 15㎡. City office invites applications every 2 years. According to the usual schedule, next invitation will be open at the beginning of February, 2020.
Fee is ¥9,000 per year (¥750 per month) as of 2019.
(Note that there is neither water system nor a storage shed in the garden.)
On a sunny day, bring a lunchbox and go to your garden.
You may feel refreshed after touching soil and doing a lot of farm work.
池子の森自然公園 Ikego no Mori park

お気に入りの場所。
広い空、吹き抜ける風。
ゆっくり過ごす前提で、お弁当、コーヒー、おやつを持って。
歩きだったら、ビールやワインもいいですね。
きれいな虫や花を探したり、ひたすら駆け回ってみたり、
凧あげ、ボール遊び、フリスビー…などなど。
遊具は置いていないけれど、工夫次第で色々な楽しみ方ができます。
お手洗いのついでに、ハイキングコースに寄るのもおすすめ。
昔このあたりが海底だったことがわかる、シロウリガイの化石が展示されています。
また、親切なパークレンジャーさんが常駐しているので、
公園内だけでなく、街で見かけた虫や鳥について教えてもらったり。
複雑な歴史を背景に、貴重な自然が残されているエリアです。
外部の生き物・植物は持ち込まない＆持ち出さないという、最低限のルールは守りましょう。

Ikego no Mori park, my favorite place in Zushi.
Open sky and nice breeze.
Let's bring a lunchbox, coffee and snack so that you can enjoy yourself without worrying about time. You may feel like having beer or wine if you don't drive afterwards.
Although there is no playground equipment, there are a plenty of ideas to have fun. Looking for beautiful insects and flowers, running around, flying a kite, playing with a ball and throwing a frisbee, etc.
It would be also fun to have a little hike starting from the path in front of the washroom. You may be surprised to find a giant rock with fossil Calyptogena, which tells that this area used to be under the sea in ancient times.
Also, the park rangers are friendly and lovely. They know a lot about plants, birds, insects and all that, and they are willing to answer your questions.
Ikego no Mori park is a protected natural park due to the complex history.
Don't forget the basic rule; not to bring plants and insects from outside of the park as well as not to take anything away from the park.
